OVERVIEW

One of my very first projects at Expedia was to reduce the onboarding time of new hotels. When I joined it was hovering around 40 days 😱 and some hotels were not receiving their first booking until well after the first few months of becoming a partner.

My team focused on understanding the problem. We interviewed the teams that were working with hotels as they onboarded to learn about their successes and failures. It was clear that we needed to speed up gathering rate and inventory information. Additionally we wanted to make reservation rates more valuable by providing additional traveler context that hotels could use to target travelers. We worked with gamification techniques to provide quick-reaction to market trends.
